Unfortunately, public transport has become a high-risk activity in 2020. COVID-19 droplets have been seen to remain airborne for as long as three hours, as well as detectable on surfaces for as long as 72 hours. While Transport NSW has taken steps to increase the safety of Sydney’s trains and buses, the enormous scale of the operation makes social distancing incredibly difficult.
Transport Minister Andrew Constance has urged that “when it comes to public transport, we know it is a high risk area and that’s why I’m urging people to walk, ride their bike, drive a car if they have to get out and about”.
